-Extra Credit Event 2- Griffith Observatory- 6/05/2017- A picture in front of the Griffith observatory (I am on the far right)      By far, one of the subjects I am most fascinated in is space. The possibilities for endless discoveries, creation, injinutiy, mixing of different fields and so many other reasons, space and astronomy is one of the few things I choose to spend my own time learning about, away from the classroom.  This is why a trip to the Griffith Observatory was too good to pass up.  The first thing you see when you arrive is a beautifully designed white exterior with two small brown domed roofs on the outside, and a large one in the center. This is one of the parts I was most fascinated in, as it is where the discovery takes place; the telescopes. -ArtSci Leonado Art Science Evening Rendezvous - May 25th, 2017- On May 25th, I attended the Art Science departments lecture event which contained multiple speakers discussing a variety of different topics. As a whole, having an event that contained a vast variety of different speakers from different backgrounds and with different ideas was a really fascinating way for me to gain some knowledge, as well as see how different things can connect. First to speak was Claudia Schnugg who first opened with the idea of how important collaboration is. In essence, I feel this topic is at the core of our class. Even the class name itself, Art, Science, and Technology is centering on the idea that different field perform the best and work the most efficiently when they pool their knowledge and ideas together. Claudia discussed how, unless there is an outside opinion or viewpoint introduced that differs from ones own, nothing new will be thought of.  She then went on to discuss how we can en

-----------Review Session---------- Study Guide: At the review session, a few of the things that I learned (bullet pointed): -There is a blog summary(300 words), as well as a quiz and an essay(2,000 words) -The essay is written about our favorite of the nine topics we covered          -There should be an intro, background, current state, and discussion of the future -10 in paper citations and 20 references -Use acceptable sources -For the summary, discuss the importance of things, not just stating that we like them -Make sure there is a clear thesis -Make clear the connection between art and science -Proofread -Visit TAs for help if needed!!!! Week 9       For me, as well as most kids I'm sure, space is fascinating. The endless possibilities and discoveries never cease to amaze. So much so, the first classed I ever enrolled for at UCLA was Astronomy 3. But while space mass everything seem huge, it also reminds you just how small things really are. Like in the power of 10s video, with a simple exponent, you can go from something as small as an atom to as large as a galaxy. This is why there was a need for exploration As many things went in the mid 1900s, the space exploration was really a 2 man race between the United States and Soviet Union. Here, a time magazine cover in the 1960's depicts the US and Soviet's battle to reach space first Although the Soviets were able to successfully put the first person in space, I had never heard their name before this lecture, but the names of American astronaut Alan Sheppard is forever engraved into our psyche.
